Nurses'
Surgery
We have a team of experienced, trained Nurses available each morning Monday to Friday 8.30am-12.30pm and 2.00-5.30pm. They are trained to offer advice on the management of a wide range of minor illnesses.
Minor Illness
If you are suffering from illness such as:

• Viral Illness |
| • Sore Throat |
• Urinary Tract Infection |
| • Earache |
• Diarrhoea and Vomiting |
then our Nurses will be able to offer advice on your problem. Please ring and speak to one of our trained Nurses in the first instance. If it is necessary, the Nurse can see you and/or refer you to a Doctor. Our Nurses are trained to manage a wide range of minor illness and can, if required, prescribe for your condition.

Breast Screening (Mammograph)
This service will be offered to women aged 47-70 every three years.
You will be invited by letter when the mobile unit is due to visit Exmouth.
Cervical Smears (Between the ages of 25-65)
The National Screening Service Advises that all
women between the ages of 25-49 should have a cervical smear every three years
and women between the ages of 50-65 years every five years. This can be done
either by a Practice Nurse or your own Doctor or, if you prefer, by one of our
lady Doctors. You will be informed by letter when a test is due and we also advise
you of the result by letter.
Chlamydia Screening
This can be tested within the Practice. Leaflets are available at Reception.
Family Planning
All the Doctors provide all aspects of family planning and emergency contraception. Fitting IUCDs (coils) and contraceptive implants can be fitted in Practice.
Maternity
Services
Our Practice-based Midwives offer
midwifery-led care. You will also see your own GP during your pregnancy. Where
necessary we will liaise closely with the R D & E Obstetric Team.
Smoking
Cessation
There are regular clinics where we give advice and support to patients trying to give
up smoking.
Children's
Health
Developmental Checks
Your child's developmental checks
will be done by your own Doctor and the nurse. Checks are carried out by
the Doctor at eight weeks. You will be informed by letter when a check is due. Various pre-school developmental checks are carried out by the Health Visitor. For more information please contact them on: 01395 222736.
Immunisations
Your child's routine immunisations
will also be done by your own Doctor and the nurse. When these are due,
you will be sent an appointment by post. If you are unable to bring your child
for the appointment arranged, please phone for an alternative time.
Health
Checks
New Patients Checks
All new Patients who register with
our Practice will be offered a health check with the Practice Nurse or Doctor.
This will enable us to obtain details of your medical history. Please bring a
sample of urine with you when you attend for this check.
Well Person Checks
Our Practice Nurses offer health
checks. These involve a blood pressure and urine test and advice on diet, exercise,
alcohol and smoking. Immunisations are also checked. These health checks are
available on request.
Chaperoning Service:
Please ask if you would like someone to accompany you during an examination.

Minor Surgery
All the Doctors in our Practice
are qualified to provide minor surgery services including Cryotherapy. These can be arranged by appointment
with your Doctor.
Vaccinations
Please see our Practice Nurse for
the following:
- Holidays - Up-to-date advice, information and vaccinations as required.
- Yellow Fever - We are an approved centre.
- Pneumonia – Pneumovax is recommended for those patients aged 65 and over and for ‘at risk’ groups.
- Influenza - Flu injections are available from October on request.
Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy And Chiropody
These services are available on the hospital site.
Home
Nursing
Patients who are confined to their
homes and need nursing care may arrange with their Doctor for a District Nurse
to call. The Hospital normally arranges for a Nurse to call on Patients discharged
early who still require nursing treatment at home.
Complex Care Team and Core Group
This Team is based in Exmouth. Doctors and Nurses meet with the Core Group weekly to discuss management and support of patients and families with complex needs.
WEB (Woodbury, Exmouth & Budleigh) Locality Commissioning Group
Our practice is part of the WEB Locality Commissioning Group of which Dr Tom Debenham is Chair. The aim of the group is to commission high quality services for the WEB area in partnership with the local community.
Hospital at Home
This is a new service being piloted by WEB, led by a team of Nurses and overseen by Doctors, as well as Therapists and Community Care Workers, to ensure patients receive the right level of care. This new service will focus on patients discharged from hospital who need help to regain their independence as well as being able to treat some patients at home requiring IV antibiotics rather than going to hospital.

Our Practice is able to admit Patients
to Exmouth Hospital when necessary, where you will be cared for by your own Doctor
together with the Nursing staff.
Visiting Consultant Surgeons perform
operations at the Hospital on a regular basis.

- Insurance medicals and reports
- Medical examinations for Heavy Goods Vehicle and Public Service Vehicle
Licences
- Medical examinations for elderly drivers, pre-employment and sporting activities
For passport and driving licence
applications, holiday cancellation claims, health insurance claims, etc, please
allow one week for completion.
These services are not available
under the NHS and a fee is payable. An up-to-date list of our fees is always
available at Reception.
