THE PRACTICE
STAFF
Practice Manager
Hazel Hunt is our Practice
Manager and is responsible for the management and smooth running of the Practice.
The Integrated
Nursing Team
The community and practice-based nursing team work closely together to manage
the health needs of all the practice population. Areas of expertise include diabetes,
asthma and leg-ulcer management. We also offer a telephone advice line manned
by experienced nurses which can be accessed each morning.
Healthcare Assistants
Our Healthcare Assistants have been
trained to take samples of blood and to perform ECGs, blood pressure readings,
some dressings and record New Patient Health Check information.
Receptionists/Secretaries
Our team of Receptionists and Secretaries
have been specifically trained to deal with your enquiries. All our staff are
bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the Doctors and Nurses.
Dispensers
Victoria Drake and Helen
Crispin are the Dispensers at our branch surgery, Underhill Surgery, Lympstone.
This is a dispensing surgery for those patients registered at Underhill Surgery
only.
Data Protection
Act and Confidentiality
Patients' records are held on computer in accordance with the guidelines of the
Data Protection Act and strict confidentiality is maintained.
All our staff are bound by the same
rules of confidentiality as the Doctors and Nurses.
Other Members
Of The Team
District Nurses Tel no. 273666
Midwives Tel no. 282112
The Practice also works closely
with Hospiscare, Community Mental Health Nurses, Counsellors, Chiropodists, Physiotherapists,
Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and also Social Services.
Minor Injuries Unit
Exmouth Hospital is open 14 hours a day for accidents and emergencies. We help to cover the Minor Injuries Unit with other Doctors on a rota basis. Although this may sometimes interrupt Surgery appointment times, it does mean that we can offer you an emergency service locally out of hours, with suitable back-up and nursing help.
Hospital
Sessions
Dr Douglas is an Anaesthetist at Exmouth Hospital.
Training
We are a training Practice. You may be offered an appointment with a qualified
Doctor gaining experience in General Practice, or asked if one may be present
while you consult your own Doctor. If you prefer to see your own Doctor in private,
please say so. No-one will be offended. Dr Tom Debenham and Dr Kevin Douglas
are approved trainers.
We are also involved with the Peninsula Medical School and provide training from time to time for Medical Students.
Zero Tolerance
We aim to treat our patients courteously at all times and expect our patients
to treat our staff in a similarly respectful way. We take seriously any threatening,
abusive or violent behaviour against any of our staff or patients. If a patient
is violent or abusive, they will be warned to stop their behaviour. If they persist,
we may exercise our right to take action to have them removed, immediately if
necessary, from our list of patients.
